Cheapcast brings Chromecast to every Android device
Last month Google unveiled the future of TV streaming (as they call it) – Chromecast. Essentially a USB device that lets you stream videos from any device including phones, tablets, laptops etc directly to your TV. Google says , “Everyone loves their phones, tablets, and laptops. Unlike other solutions, we will not force you to have the same operating system on all your devices.” Chromecast lets users control the TV with any device they have in hand turning your normal TV into a Smart TV.
The device is basically a USB dongle that connects over HDMI or A/V receiver of your TV. Chromecast has been tagged at a price of US $35, great price for a device capable of truning a normal TV into a Smart TV!
Recently, Android Police reported that developer Sebastian Mauer is working on an Application called Cheapcast, which will let you use your Android device as Chromecast thus, emulating Chromecast. Mauer has also uploaded a video to show his work and development. Check it out below:-
The video shows a phone being hooked up to a Tablet where the video is sent. Mauer says this can be done with any device, say with an Android HDMI stick. One great thing is that Cheapcast won’t require a rooted Android device. Right now, the app works for any web streaming device that uses Chromecast, but tabs aren’t supported because the device uses WebRTC.
Stay tuned. We’ll keep you updated and Mauer has promised more updates. (0)
