Xolo Q800 gets official Android 4.2.1 update
Xolo had rolled out the Android 4.2.2 Jellybean update for Q800 the last weekend, but it was done in phases via XOLO Care App using OTA (Over the Air) mechanism. But, today i.e., 31st December 2013 they updated their Official Software Update page with the update package for Q800.
I just installed the update and frankly, it’s not bad but not great either. The update brings Android 4.2.1 JB to Xolo Q800. Many of the users are still unable to get the update OTA using Xolo Care App. They can download the package from Official Page and follow the instructions below to update your device:-
- Move the downloaded update.zip to the root of your SD Card.
- On your phone, open XOLO Care app and go to Update Tab.
- Click Check for software update and once it shows the update.zip package, click Continue.
- Wait for the process to complete. Usually takes 5-10 minutes.
The Xolo Customer Care Executive had asked me to backup all the data on the phone, but I was surprised to find that all my data including SMS, call logs, apps was intact. Anyways, to be on the safe side, I suggest backing up all your data.
I’ll be posting about the Changelog soon. Stay tuned.
UPDATE (29-12-13) – The update will be released in phases i.e., not every handset will receive the update right now. Those who can’t find the update with Xolo Care App will have to wait for a week, according to what Xolo Customer Care has to say.
UPDATE (31-12-13) - The Official Page has been updated with the update package for Xolo Q800. Download it here. (16)
